Nanotechnology in concrete

Nanotechnology is the latest development in the construction industry, especially high performance mortar. Demand for high performance mortar production has increased in recent decades as it meets contemporary construction requirements. To obtain a high-performance mortar, scientists have used many methods and techniques that are constantly evolving, the latest of which is nanotechnology

The production of high-performance building materials has become the focus of attention of many researchers. The idea of using nanotechnology in cement mortar is to use nanomaterials (nanoparticles) of different composition, such as: smoked nanoparticles, nanoparticles, nanostructures, nanostructured carbon fibers, etc. This is done by replacing the proportion of cement present in concrete with proportions of those nanomaterials (except fibers, which are compensated as volumetric proportions of the total mixture volume), and by measuring the extent of this substitution on mechanical properties.

For concrete (soft and hard), such as: precipitation, operability, compression resistance, tensile, refractive, ground, corrosion and other characteristics of concrete. Age on its mechanical properties. It should be noted that the use of these materials will affect the operability of the concrete, which requires the use of materials that increase the flexibility of concrete known as superplasticizers (SP) The best proportion of the addition of nano-silica vapors is 10% of the weight of cement. It was added with a superplasticizer ratio of 4% and a water-cement ratio (0.23). The best percentage of smoked nanoparticles is 0.5% of the cement weight.

It was added with a superplasticizer ratio of 4% and a water-cement ratio (0.252). The best substitution rate for nanostructures is 10% of the cement weight (replacement). It was added with 4% superplasticizer ratio and 0.235 water-cement ratio. The best percentage for adding carbon fiber is 1% volumetric ratio. It was added with 4% superplasticizer ratio and 0.28 water-cement ratio. When mixing the optimal ratios, we obtain an increase in compressive strength of 67.27%, an increase in fracture parameters of 83.5% and an increase in the indirect tensile strength of 125% over the reference mixture.
