Prominent Participation of the Syrian Engineers Syndicate in the 6th Arab Female Engineers Forum in Jordan
The Syrian Engineers Syndicate participated in the proceedings of the Sixth Arab Female Engineers Forum, represented by the architect Ebaa Abdul Karim Bakkar, the syndicate’s representative in the Arab Female Engineers Committee of the Federation of Arab Engineers. The forum was hosted by the city of Salt in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on October 24 and 25, 2026, under the title "The Role of Female Engineers in Planning Resilient and Sustainable Cities." The forum was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society, and was organized by the Jordan Engineers Association, the Federation of Arab Engineers, the Association of Jordanian Female Engineers, and the Arab Council for Creativity and Innovation.
Architect Ebaa Bakkar presented a research paper entitled "Engineering After the Crisis: From the Map of Destruction to the Map of Resilience." During her presentation, she reviewed an engineering vision based on the Syrian experience in facing the challenges of reconstruction and urban planning. She introduced research concepts of her own development, most notably "The Intelligence of Scarcity" and "The Risk-Aware City," stemming from a fundamental question on how to build cities that are more resilient and less fragile in the face of future crises and shocks.
The forum, which was opened by the Jordanian Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, on behalf of the forum's patron, witnessed the presentation of 22 scientific papers across three panel discussions. It featured the participation of representatives from several Arab countries, including Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and the Sultanate of Oman.
This participation comes within the framework of enhancing the presence and representation of the Syrian Engineers Syndicate in Arab engineering bodies and committees, strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise with sisterly engineering associations and institutions, and highlighting the competence and experience of Syrian female engineers in the fields of reconstruction, urban planning, and sustainable development.
The Syrian Engineers Syndicate expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Architect Ebaa Abdul Karim Bakkar for her efforts in representing the syndicate within the Arab Female Engineers Committee and for her scientific contribution to the forum. It also extends its appreciation to the Higher Committee of Syrian Female Engineers and its subcommittees for their continuous efforts in supporting Syrian female engineers and enhancing their professional presence. The Syndicate reaffirms its pride in the status of Syrian female engineers, their active role in building families and society, and their contribution to reconstruction and shaping the future of Syria
